Presbyterian Church at Franklin Lakes

Pastor Jack Lohr announced his intention (Jan. 13, 2008) to request the end of the pastoral relationship with the Presbyterian Church at Franklin Lakes effective March 31, 2008. This has been approved by the congregation and the Presbytery of Palisades. Excerpts from his letter follow:

Dear Friends of PCFL,

With a sense of fullness, and with gratitude for the immense goodness of God mediated in so many years and so much shared ministry with you, I have concluded that it is time for me to move on...

As I look back on this ministry, we’ve been through many incarnations together. Recently, we have made dramatic strides toward our intention of growth through diversity. As we worked to define a part-time position for head of staff that would focus our energies for growth, I concluded that it would be better for the church to start fresh and negotiate needs and expectations with a new pastor. I also believe this is a good time for the congregation to decide on your own what your vision of the future will be.

For my part, I will be seeking a new ministry opportunity and the challenges it will bring. I ask for your prayers in this process, as I deal with the fear and excitement of change, and I promise to hold you in my prayers as you continue to seek the road toward renewal. You have a precious treasure in this “congregation unlike any other,” and I know you will work together to enhance it.

I [want] to thank each of you personally for your love and support, to let you know how much you’ve meant to me, and to say “goodbye” – God be with you.

Humbly, and with love, Jack Lohr, Pastor
